Are there any documentaries that have professionals in relevant fields refuting arguments made by Dembski, Behe, and the rest of their ilk? If not, someone should make a film, from the mainstream scientific viewpoint, about the evolution/creation debate.

Closest thing to that I can think of was a PBS documentary I saw on TV five - ten years back. I can't remember much about it, although they did interview a student at Wheaton College. He was moving away from strict creationism, to the disappointment of his devout father.

I've seen PBS' EVOLUTION as well. Didn't they conduct a poll in the science dept. at Wheaton to compare how many were creationists going in to their program and how many were going out? Maybe that is just wishful thinking.

I brought this thread up because the other night I was flipping through the channels and came accross a documentary (crockumentary) on one of the Chrisitan channels about evolution. It would have sounded pretty sophisticated to someone not involved in science or discussions of science. They brought up information theory, irreducible complexity, and some of the so-called astrophysical arguments against evolution. Of course it was all bullshit, but If I didn't know any better they would seem convincing.

That late night Christian channel is some dangerous stuff. I had a friend who got divorced and was naturally depressed and went from being a non-believer to a hardcore bible thumping Christian over night because of those damn shows.

Anyway, I figure that if they have their guns we should have ours. I think it would be a great idea to get a documentary going that refutes in detail the top five or so arguments that creationists use against evolution.

That sort of rings a bell, but I probably don't remember the program as well as you do. I can recall the son going back home for spring break or something, and there were some discussions between him and his father about evolution. The father really dug in his heels and refused to budge from the creationist point of view, whereas the son (as I recall it anyway) was more openminded about the issue.
