Ya know how sometimes theists say that even if God presented hisself to us atheists that we wouldn't believe in him? Well, I got to thinking what god could do to prove his existence beyond a doubt, and I want to see what kind of miracles you all would find acceptable as well. Try to think of something cool and creative.

Here's mine to start things off:

God should turn off gravity for a couple of minutes and then turn it back on, and at the same time make sure that no one would die in the process.

Just imagine how cool this would be. Everything that's not tied down just flies up into the air at the same time all over the world, including the oceans. Then everything falls back down, and no one gets hurt miraculously. I just think that would look really cool. And then the houses and stuff just miraculously rebuild themselves. If I were god, i'd be doing this kind of stuff all the time.

I figure that if anyone would know a miracle that would undoubtly prove god exists, god himself would. Thus I figure that if there is a god who wants to prove his existence through a miracle, I'd leave it up to him to figure out what the miracle that would convince me would be.

My favorite miracle in the Bible is the 2000 suicidal demon possessed pigs going off the cliff.

I'd like to see that one for real!

Here's a good selfish miracle:

I'd like for god to make me miraculously able to play the Liszt b minor piano sonata without me having to do all the work of learning it and practicing it.

I've always wanted to tackle that beast, but never have had the time.

How's that?

Having Kristen Kreuk, Jessica Alba, and Grace Park showing up naked before me wanting to rip my clothes off and ravish me would be a good miracle. If that happened, especially if they popped up out of nowhere, that would be miraculous enough for me.

you'd rather have that than see gravity turned off? =)

Some really huge celestial events would be convincing. I mean like making the moon disappear or juggling the stars or instantly creating a planet to my specifications.

Resurrecting some dead people would be cool too, and I don't mean like from an operating table, I mean like Abraham Lincoln.

It's also crucial that these miracles should be able to be seen and verified by everyone, not just me.

Looking up and seeing the stars spell out the name of the god in question. Not where you have to draw thte lines yourself, each letter being continous.

You couldn't argue with that, well there are ways I suppose.

How about let's make the movie come true? I'll play Jim Carrey's role. Anyone want to be the anchor man?

Huge celestial events convinced our predecessors (eclipses, metero showers, and such). Then again, it would be pretty convincing if the stars in Orion's belt suddenly arranged themselves to actually look like Orion (or maybe Spongebob).

Resurrecting some dead people would be cool too, and I don't mean like from an operating table, I mean like Abraham Lincoln.

Shit, I'd settle for a few people re-growing limbs on the Ernest Angelly show.

I don't think anything would work...
if it was too bizzare for me to label as something "yet to be explained by science" I'd figure I'd have gone crazy...

If I were to read the Bible and believe it. That would be miracle enough for me.

That may sound nonsensical, but, if the Bible were truly the word of God, then one might expect the act of reading it to have some magical properties, right?

Well, gravity turned off would be kinda cool, but I'd rather play the Liszt sonata. Besides, the gravity thing might require my pianos to be tuned again.

Being given the ability to change my gender, sexual orientation, and body structure at simultaneously at will would be pretty miraculous. Shit, if that happened, I would try out every possible permutation I can think of just for kicks.

I imagine some miracles could convince me that I needed to rethink my views on natural law and/or that I was dealinjg wit a very powerful person. Since the reasioning involved would be probablistic (sp?) I doubt I would accept that this gave him authority to determine right from wrong. It may be that the nature of the claims This make about God simply places the concept beyond reasonable evidence.

...but I would want to see it rain condoms on Christmas.

Well, I am a theist.

The only thing I can think of that would convince me beyond a doubt would be to alter my thinking such that I was incapable of doubting. I think this would create serious problems and probably leave me nearly non-functional.

Apart from that... I can't imagine anything leaving no doubt at all.
