God,
I pray for clarity and the ability to be extremely honest with myself. I pray that I am no longer able to deceive myself in any way. I pray that I not fall victim to my own biases, hopes and wishes and not to confuse them with being actual and factual. I pray that I can recognise the difference between truth and hope. I pray that I never worship false gods that exist only in my imagination. Grant me freedom from fear of any imagined entities and the stories of their wrath. Grant that I can always tell the difference between perceived ideas and imagined ones. Grant that I always use logic and reason to explain the things I see.
Amen.

Sounds cool to me.
As my signature says on boards where I have one: "Hear me, and if I close my mind in fear, please pry it open."

To whom would you address that prayer? Presumably not a God who would smite you for your arrogance in assuming that you could reason your way to the truth. :)

You can do all those things without appealing to God. In fact, by praying at all you risk jeopardizing what it seems you hope to accomplish.
Or was that the point?

Not sure if you're referring to Christian prayer, but I'd say that the Bible encourages that:Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves….

Indeed! Very well said. I like your prayer a lot and I could it repeat it after you with feeling. :)
But, at the end of it - I'm not too sure. When you say, 'Grant that I always use logic and reason to explain the things I see', why should these two be the arbiter of everything? They cut a lot of ice, it's true, but do they cut everything?
