I am curious as to the evidence that the Ras-Tafari present for Haile Selassie's divinity. I am aware of the following:
Haile Selassie never claimed to be god, in fact he was an adherent of the Ethipoian Orthodox christianity.
Many black mystics prophesised that a black messiah would emerge from Africa shortly before Haile Selassie's rise to prominece.
Many Ras-Tafari believe that if someone was God incarnate they would not go around saying that they are god incarnate.
Many Ras-Tafari refuse to provide evidence for their beliefs as they already "know" them to be true.
Many Ras-Tafari claim that upon Haile Selassie's visit to Jamaica in 1966 they saw crucifixion-related scars on his hands (supposedly proving that he was Jesus Christ)...
So I want to know why Ras-Tafari consider him God incarnate. Surely vague prophecies about a black Messiah in Africa and alleged scars in convientenly located positions is not enough.
On a similar subject, has anyone read the "Holy Piby"? How much does it differ from the bible? And what are some of its more contentious claims?
