This thread has been set up for a formal debate between James Lazarus and TrueMyth who will debate the following resolution:

"Resolved: moral realism is compatible with atheism."

James Lazarus will affirm and TrueMyth will oppose. The debate will have 5 rounds and James Lazarus will go first, per the parameters (http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showpost.php?p=3753254&postcount=14).

A Peanut Gallery (http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.php?p=3781665#post3781665) is set up in the Moral Foundations & Principles forum for the rest of us to comment on the debate.

Enjoy the debate!

James Lazarus has informed me that he needs to withdraw from the formal debate, but still wishes to submit an opening statement (to which TrueMyth will have the opportunity to respond). Since his opening statement is overdue, however, he will have a grace period until Oct. 12 to submit it.

James Lazarus's grace period has expired. TrueMyth has also declined to post any statement in the event that James did not post. This thread will now be closd.
