Not trying to jump on any band wagons or steal anyone's thunder, but I just wanted to share my story with everyone here. I hope that my story may inspire you to rethink things and lead you to the Truth.

Santa answered my letters finally. Even though I wasn't too sure about Him for a while there, this past December he came to me. I didn't really see Him, but the cookies & milk I left out were gone. He also left me some CDs and DVDs I had wished for.

Now, I know some of you will scoff at me, but the warm and fuzzy feeling I get tells me He does exist. He does know if I have been naughty or nice, and I'm fairly certain his belly jiggles when He laughs.

His gifts are free (except the cookies, milk, and being "good" part); all you have to do is seek him out.

I wish you all the best, and Santa speed... (He is very fast you know.)

========================================================

In light of all the recent threads on reconversion, I thought I would share something that I tell my wife every time she mentions that I am "just straying from God." To me, re-converting to Christianity is about as likely as restored faith in Santa.

This serves no practical purpose since theists will scoff and ignore the analogy. But I hope it was at least mildly entertaining for those that get it, and at least mildly annoying to those that don't. :devil3:

Phew I'm glad I read your post. After I saw your title I almost refrained from clicking, expecting to roll my eyes throughout the whole thing. Its funny how rational atheists can suddenly turn back to christianity for the warm fuzzy feelings, or maybe even a sudden reignited fear of god and hell. (I mean funny in a sad way, not funny ha-ha.) I'm like you. The day I become a christian is the day i start believing in santa and the tooth fairy and faries etc.

You should always leave some carrots for the reindeer too.

We left out sherry and mince pies, but never saw who drank/ate them. Mind you the next morning we didn't much care.

actually, I do remember leaving carrots out most years instead of cookies, "because Santa likes his vegetables too."

I guess my mom was trying to help my dad keep his weight down... although cookies are nothing next to drinking a 12-pack of Budweiser every night...

That's why I made the post. Hope it broke the monotony for you. :)

Actually, I don't think a rational person could go back to believing a lie. Although, everybody is irrational from time to time, but that's no excuse for it. I just think they're being cowards or intellectually dishonest.

It's often not easy being an atheist, especially with friction in the family. Some people just take the easy way out.

Funny how I've never read of an atheist converting to theism based on intellectual arguments. It's always emotional - because they had an NDE, believed a ghost story, were helped out of a depression, etc. Not that this isn't good for some people; if it provides them the crutch they need to pursue a satisfactory life, then better that they believe. But in the long run the goal of greater human happiness will be best served by grounding our worldviews in evidence.

I was thinking "Oh shit not another one...wait Santa? Haha, must be a joke!"

And it was. :) I was thinking of making a post like this, but you beat me to it.

Carrots?

Reindeer eat moss for the most part.

My dad's family had about 150000 reindeer, so we always had fresh reindeer meat for Christmas. Loved it!

Yeah, well, my personal deity is the Tooth fairy, who has a much tougher job than Santa. I mean, all Santa has to do is deliver toys once a year, and only to good little rugrats. The Tooth Fairy has to run around replacing teeth with money all the damn time and do it in all the currencies of the world, while constantly adjusting for exchange rates, inflation, etc.
