Is under cover infiltration of religious discussion boards a good idea, promoting evolutionism and church state seperaton and demoting radicalism and extremism, in places where otherwise... contrary ideas might take root? I wish you guys and gals would. :devil3:

I used to post as a naive Japanese guy on one site. He would ask questions like asking if he should still visit the graves of his parents since they were Buddhists and must be burning in hell. For some reason just got bored with it.
Unless you are very, very good at stealth, you will be banned within a couple of posts, no matter how gently you post your comments.

Ah, I remember the last time that this subject came up, most people objected to this idea. Most of us prefer a policy of honesty. In other words, be who you are, be yourself. Do not pretend to be a Christian, don't fake a persona. Treat others the way you wish to be treated. Answer questions in a plain, polite manner. Raise issues in an atmosphere of conversation and mutual learning, not hostility.
The old thread is Is is wrong? (http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=164891). Check out some of those old replies. I advise you that if you do go to a forum where you'll be "debating" theists or creationists, be forthright and genuine. Don't try to play games. We secularists do not need to use silly shenanigans to get our message out.

You can falsely adopt whatever minimum beliefs are required to participate. But there is no good justification or need to go any futher than that.

I post on three Christian Forums, openly, and have never been banned. I've hardly been warned. I do stay away from the truly scary ones like Rapture Ready, though.

I think that this is a valid tactic to introduce people to knew ideas and maybe find out exactly what it is that they believe in various topics. By posing as someone else they'll give you a different perspective than they would otherwise have knowing that you're an atheist.

I'm all for it, as long as you're damn good at pulling off the act. Plenty more of my thoughts on the topic are in the thread ELGS linked to.

I think so. Gotta be really careful. It's best to pretend to be ignorant. Honesty is great once there's a common ground of understanding, but when you can't express yourself fully due to the other person's limited mental constructs, honesty becomes impossible, and in these cases, it's best to just outright lie. Also, it's worth proving yourself and putting in some time to suck up to some of the posters before asking thought provoking questions. And, whenever you ask a question, preface it with something like my coworker said X. What should I tell him/her?
The other problem with places like Rapture Ready is that they don't accept free E-mail addresses. So, once you get banned; you're gone.

I say go for it. Although you'll probably find that on most theist boards a significant proportion of the members already acknowledge TOE as a valid scientific fact and fully support state and church seperation. The only ones that do not would be sites such as Rapture Ready whose main constituency are self confessed Fundamentalist Christians.

If you are going to debate, you should do so respectfully.
