I finally became naturalized a U.S. citizen but was unpleasantly surprised to have to endure the ridiculous Christian pastor present during the ceremony. He made two preaches, one introductory and another at the end, all with prayer, mentioning verses from the bible, etc. He lamented the sorry moral state of the U.S. and hoped that the new citizens would help restore it for example.
The good thing was that I perceived a severe lack of interest from most of the new citizens, but still I cannot help wondering how an immigrant who had left his original country because of religious persecution would have felt.
I can't even begin to understand how our judges would even allow such a circus in their court when it clearly violates the principle of separation of church and state - a real disappointment from this newly converted U.S. citizen.
