The Albany Times Union had an article (http://timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=586541&category=STATE&BCCode=&newsdate=5/4/2007) about Gov. Spitzer and the National Day of Prayer:
Gov. Eliot Spitzer officially marked Thursday with a proclamation declaring it a "Day of Prayer and Reflection in the Empire State," but a Christian Web site said Spitzer was the last governor in the country this year to sign such a proclamation, and suggested he did so only under pressure...
Focus on the Family has more issues with the Democratic, Jewish governor than the prayer day. The governor also has not kept up former Republican Gov. George Pataki's tradition of an annual prayer breakfast. Larabee said "an event providing an opportunity for prayer and reflection is being developed, however, a specific date has not yet been selected."
Check out the article and maybe we can send some positive feedback (http://www.ny.gov/governor/contact/index.html) to Governor Spitzer - let him know that plenty of his constitutents would be quite happy with him not endorsing the National Day of Prayer or reinstating an annual prayer breakfast.
