from a thread in PA&SA. But haven't the Supremes given atheists equal standing for protection with religious followers? And doesn't the fact that the military have an approved "atheist symbol" for gravestones contradict the policy referred to in the article?

The complainant is a lieutenant. He should be doing his job, down on his knees behind the general, with his nose in the crack, licking, sucking, and saying, "Yum!"

The LT involved seems to be rather outspoken about his atheism.
Is he, Wayne Adkins, a member of this board? In any case, I'd like to buy him a beer.

No one every said that the army had the ability to fix something when it was small but instead had to wait until it bit their head off.
But at some point in time it will dawn on them that the number of atheists is growing.

But on thinking on it, the saying "there are no atheists in foxholes" is actually an insult to theists. If implies that people believe in god because they are chickenshits.
It could also mean that only god believers are dumb enough to get killed.
Christians say it, not me. But it just shows how little they think about what they say.

Excellent point!
"No atheists in foxholes" also means that the guys who were running around South Vietman fathering all those mixed race children must have been Christians or at least believers in god, as were those responsible for Mei Lei and Abu Ghraib.
Shows you just how much belief in God is worth, doesn't it?

Seems it makes no difference whatever that volcanoes erupt and earthquakes happen. That disease occurs and accidents strike at random.
Same rate for every god. Seems suspicious if you ask me.

Yes, everything working as though deities and spiritual forces don't exist proves their existance! ;)
