So sending plagues to kill innocent babies, flooding the world and slaughtering most everyone in it, torturing a guy and murdering his family to prove to Satan how super you are and things like that don't bother you? What exactly does it take for you to have something against someone?

If God's real, then the worst of his followers is a saint compared to the man Himself.

Tom Sawyer,

you are making assumptions about which God, and also about who wrote the text.

Makes you wonder, if there is such a thing as a God, if the busiest part of heaven isn't the libel and slander dept.

Anyone believing what was written gets sentenced to purgatory and the guys that wrote it take a trip downstairs.

So effectively the only people allowed into heaven are the atheists. They might not have believed in Him while they were alive, but at least they didn't make up shit about Him.

Of course I am. God is imaginary, therefore anything said about Him can never amount to anything other than an assumption that can never be validated against anything real.

There are no lawyers in Heaven, you silly boy.

Purgatory stopped existing about a month ago.

I imagine there'd be some really stubborn atheists who'd just spend the rest of eternity trying to convince Him that He doesn't exist. It'd give them something to do, anyways.

I don't think it's fair to consider the Biblical God as the only believed in God. Obviously that God seems pretty awful. With that in mind, however, I don't really see the point in this thread. Sure, some theists suck. But some so do some atheists. After being a part of the Christian church for many years, I don't think it's fair to generalize all followers of any God as being bad people.

I think that was Limbo, not purgatory. Puratory still exists.*

*Offer not good in all 50 states. Some restrictions apply. Check with your local parish for more information. Some users of purgatory report bloating, excessive weight gain, and anal leakage. Stop using purgatory if you experience any of the above and see your priest immediately.

It's about time they started giving out laxatives.

Of course God is real, unless declared integer of course.

There are no lawyers in Heaven, you silly boy.

Wouldn't it be great though if all lawyers were devout Christians, and like their Saviour died for their clients sins?

Aren't Limbo and Purgatory the same thing? I may be getting my imaginary places mixed up - which was the one with the wizard and the talking scarecrow?

Well, I live in a predominately Christian society, so when I use the generic term "god", it's with the default assumption that I'm talking about the Judeo-Christian fella. If I'm referring to some other god, I'll call them by name like Zeus or Allah or Darwin.

Of course, not all followers of God are bad people, but when their exemplar of goodness slaughtered thousands of innocent babies and children because the ruler of their land wouldn't do what He told him to, and actually only didn't do it because that god went and stole the ruler's free will and forced him not to comply, you really have to wonder about their own level of morality.

I may be getting my imaginary places mixed up - which was the one with the wizard and the talking scarecrow? No. Purgatory is supposed to be temporary punishment of sinners to make them "clean" so they can enter heaven. Limbo is supposed to be an eternal non-punishment area for babies who didn't sin but who were still "dirty" because a woman ate a magical apple after listening to a talking snake.

I have nothing against God either. Just like I have nothing against Peter Piper.

I have something against the idea of god(s), that one can pawn off their problems, their responsibilities, their actions, their fears and jealousies, everything on an imaginary being they either create or buy into. "God wanted me to do it.", "It was a demon in me.", "Its what god wants.". Its what makes me sick is what it is.

Except the part that he doesn't exist. Good point though, I have wondered if religion itself is the enemy of God.

Because of this Catholic rule, I didn't baptize my kids. What merciful God would punish my children for something they can't control? Another great example of why I veered away from this religion.

Doesn't matter. Some other well intentioned soul probably saw to it that they were...

Well, as long as it makes sense then.

Of course God is real, unless declared integer of course.

More specifically, he is irrational and most likely transcendental - no, it has nothing to do with your teeth.

Wouldn't it be great though if all lawyers were devout Christians, and like their Saviour died for their clients sins?
Nah, we need some lawyers alive who we can target for ridicule. It would be sad if the only thing we could ridicule was the priests.
