Oh, that quiz always tells people they're UU if they can't fit them into neat categories. I mean, as long as one of the options about the existence of God is "No god. Or don't know. Or not important," it doesn't seem to think that sorting out atheists and agnostics is a very big deal.

I don't know how it came up with Orthodox Quaker as number one. I thought Quakers believed in passivism. I stated that I did not believe in passivism (at least in terms they stated). Oh well, at least I agreed with my religon 85%. I guess that isn't bad.

I don't see how I could possibly have missed three percentage points on being a nontheist, but these results aren't surprising. Since the test measures for Secular Humanism, it's too bad it doesn't measure for Objectivism, Existentialism, and other nontheistic philosophies.

http://www.selectsmart.com/RELIGION has the exact same test, but it actually seems to give more accurate results than the beliefnet one.
For example, I answered all exactly the same; and my questions clearly indicated that I held no belief in any gods at all, and Beliefnet classed me as a UU, and Selectsmart classed me as a Nontheist, and (the beliefnet one) had other Christian-type religions fairly high up on the list.
Here's my results anyway...

Secular Humanism is NOT a religion.
This site perpetuates that antagonistic smear of the Christian right which uses that argument to
a) rile up the troops by claiming that an "evil" religion is replacing Christianity in the schools;
b) file lawsuits seeking to misuse teh Establishment Clause against the teaching of evolution.
Anyone participating in such a quiz is just perpetuating the myth.

Those tests don't have enough variables to actually rate people. Further, they aren't matching your answers to answers of members of these groups. The test maker decides which answer indicates a closer match for a particular category. Thus, they are useless.

Actually its not the test makers fault. That particular site limits the test maker. They did the best by what they had to work with.
However, the assignment of the answer by the test maker as opposed to matching the results to those who are members of that group still is a flaw in these tests.

Transhumanists want to use technology to improve upon their human nature -- e.g. to extend their lifespans (with cryonics as a possible intermediary stage), enhance their senses and intelligence (perhaps by becoming cyborgs), upload their consciousness into computers (if possible), and other lofty far-future tech possibilities. Transhumanists want to become transhuman.
I used to hang out online with the Extropians, who are one particular transhumanist group.

As has been commented on earlier this test is hopeless. UU is such a fuzzy open ended concept that it catches everyone. It doesn't work like that, I wouldn't want to be part of any organisation that warmly embraces obviously wrong concepts such as a creator or an afterlife and gives them equal status with those based on scientific methodology.
And as was mentioned earlier, for an atheist all theist religions rate a big zero. I certainly don't regard quaker or protestant christainity any more valid than hinduism.
BTW I'm assuming that I only scored 94% for non theist because I answered in favour of helping humankind in a couple of questions. Are they trying to infer that 100% atheists are indifferent, uncaring individuals? Charming

They appearently were feeling a bit creative and decided that Nontheist was a way to better categorize lack of belief in religion in such a way as throw people off from their normal ideological stance.

I'm always amused that I come out as with Theraveda Buddhism on top. I guess it's cuz I think there's something to that whole suffering-is-a-result-of-craving thing. What's really funny, though, is how my near-fundy Buddhist friend was labeled a Roman Catholic when we first took the test. He was fuming for weeks :)

Except for Liberal Christian Protestants, I wasn't overly surprised by the results. Delighted to see secular humanism near the top of the list. My pagan and Buddhist beliefs are not "hard" but at least made a respectable showing.
Right down at the bottom? Islam, Roman Catholic, Conservative Christian Protestants, and Orthodox just about everything.

Good to know that I'm ranked as a neopagan. At one time I consistently scored as a Unitarian. But now that I'm always classified as a neopagan (which is the closest to what I am), that must mean that I'm becoming more orthodox. :)
