Alabama's chief state Supreme Court judge is making news for refusing a federal judge's order to remove a Ten Commandments display from the state court.

Polk County may soon make similar headlines. The Polk County Commission has agreed to display a 7-foot tall monument called the American Heritage Foundation Rock at the county administration building.

They're hoping that including actual historical documents will help them win legal the legal challenges they are most certainly expecting.

They could have saved some money and used Roy's Rock when he's done posturing in Alabama.

Adding some historical documents doesn't make the Ten Commandments historical. It's interesting to note that all discussion about this monument was "what do we add to the Ten Commandments", not "what is historically important".

And the organizers specifically excluded any religious material that wasn't Judeo-Christian.

Exactly, beejay. It's very transparent and I do hope the courts see through their rhetoric.

Are they taking suggestions about what to add to it to make it acceptable...??

I'm thinking: Some key verses from the Koran, the Gitas, the Book of Mormon, etc.

Or if they really are sincere, follow the lead of those displays in the supreme court with all of the historical real basis for the consititution and laws of our country such as Hammurabi.

I won't hold my breath though.

Cheers,
Lane

For starters, to make it acceptable they could always remove the 10C. I'm not holding my breath, either.
