Ehrman's "Lost Christianities"

The History Book Club this month features Bart Ehrman's Lost Christianities and Lost Scriptures. Any thoughts on these wrt accuracy, balance, and accessibility to someone essentially unschooled in Biblical scholarship?

Hmm, I was under the impression that this book wasn't going to be released until sometime in September? Looks interesting though...
