Well, I failed to get a mention in the "favourite non-theist" thread, so I thought I'd start this one........

Has anyone converted to non-theism mostly due to IIDB?
They have a deconversion list for alt.atheism. Honestly I don't know which of my fellow infidels are former theists.
best,
Peter Kirby

It's not so easy to quantify but I would say that IIDB played a major role in my deconversion.

Has anyone converted to non-theism mostly due to IIDB? Not mostly, I was already an atheist of sorts but it kind of "solidified" the deal, so to speak.
I found this site after doing a search for "infidels".

Least liked? I doubt that. You hardly troll like so many others have in the past. Trolling is a far worse offense than just being a stubborn biblical literalist. ;)

New users? So you only believe what more EXPERIENCED theists say? Anyway, have you checked and logged the registration dates of all the people who called you a troll?

The day that you start applying reason to the issue is the day that you will deconvert yourself.
And since i'm probably the least liked person on this board.......
Not you personally, Magus, just your wacky irrational beliefs.
.....why would you want me to be atheist?
Because we know it will release you from your incessant self-torture, dude. See, Magus, we actually care about you. :)

Nah, the board wouldn't be the same without you and look at all the response you got. Anyway when ;) it happens, you'll get my vote.

Proof that God doesn't exist :p But since you can't prove a negative, good luck. I'm convinced that God is as factual as atheists think evolution is.

I did apply reason. It's what made me a strong believer. Next suggestion?

Magus is not a deconvert and not the subject of this thread. Y'all quit needling him. Magus, quit taking the bait.
To answer Peter Kirby's question, you might find these links useful.

What is the definition of "deconversion" in this thread? Does switching from Christian to agnostic/fuzzy theist count or do they have to become a hardcore atheist?

I don't care. I think its better that atheists and theists learn to get along than it is to go around converting each other.
Anyway... back to your regularly scheduled thread. :)

Anyway my favorite is someone who was struggling with theism and non-theism. Then he read some pages I told him about which were posted on the sec web and it kicked him over the edge to non-theism.
He has never actually been a member on these boards. He's a very smart kid and IMO moral kid. He is now attending law school.
...so let it be said that there are probably people like him who have been influenced who we will never know about.

Well, the deconversion on this board that most impressed me was that of rainbow walking, so he's my pick for "favorite de-convert" (it's not because I like him any more or less than any other de-converts around here; it's the shock factor of his deconversion). I don't know how much this board had to do with his deconversion, but I suspect the discussions he had here contributed to some degree.

I was hoping I'd be the first to vote for rainbow walking.
Well...tally up another point for him.

I'm fairly new here, and so haven't met too many deconverts; but from what little I know of him, rainbow walking gets my vote too (for what it's worth).
Cheers
