Tried to read through the "Hare Krishna" thread, and gave up when hinduttva invective began to overflow. My deep sympathies for premjan.
Which brings me to the observation: verbosity is directly proportional to hinduttva bigotry.

I would appreciate it if you can further elaborate on what were you trying to say. I am relatively new to this board and I have observed that there is hardly any discussion on eastern spirituality.

If I were to elaborate, wouldn't I be laying myself open to the charge of verbosity? When I am certainly not a hinduttva bigot;)
I must also beg off the invitation (if implied) of discussing "Eastern Spirituality." My opinion is that there is nothing particularly geographical about spirituality-- all of it is unmitigated whingeing.
cheers,

I have found wordiness to be a fault of most religious writings. I actually found the Gita to be amazingly clear compared to the bible, the Koran, and the Torah. The point of religious books is not to be clear, but to be mysterious. Its easier to fool the credulous if they can't understand what is being said.

one would imagine that being an indian would effectively inoculate one against religion, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. religion and philosophy are virtually cottage industries in india, with a guru at every street corner.

sarpedon, which bhasya of the gita are you talking about? have you tried MK Gandhi's version?
premjan, since you bring up inoculation, i'll have to be pedantic and say that high doses of antigen are immunosuppressive...
