From my local ISP's message Board:
Someone started a thread about the FFRF's annual holiday display. Of coyuse, the fundies came out in droves to adress the issue.
Here are some of what the fundies said:
: There's a sign in the State Capital by the Freedom from Religion Foundation that reads: "At this season of THE WINTER SOLSTICE may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."
: : These must be some really sad people!
: Some people just need something to believe in. Whether it be a God, a book or an imaginary friend. I always say " whatever gets you through the day". Keep in mind Freedom of Choice, which is one of the great freedoms we have in this United States. Some people choose reality over books, and Gods.
You start off sounding like a fairly nice person and then slam the reader with your last sentence. Actually, I can't see YOU or prove that YOU exist, but I believe YOU are "real" and NOT because it "gets me through the day." The same goes for love and the wind. Prove to me that there is such a thing as an electron. Does believing in electrons "get you through the day", or is it the only SANE and RATIONAL thing to do in light of all that invisible evidence? Jeesh! What a crummy world we have to share with people who are insecure and quasi-intellectual. Why are "books" not a part of your "reality"? Hey..wait a minute... you did not start out so nice either. You are comparing Godly people to blooming idiots with imaginary friends. I guess this means that you must be a DEMOCRAT because you slammed all gods. How very liberal of you. And we wonder why your party does not stand a chance!
:banghead:
I can't wait to get out of here next fall!
