At the insistence and with the permission of a philosophy moderator, I copy this post from MD for the benefit of those here who may be interested in my series:

By way of a Christmas gift, there are now a further three threads in the series that I present for your viewing pleasure (or displeasure, as the case may be): Reading Philosophy (http://www.eblaforum.org/main/viewtopic.php?t=42), Political Philosophy (http://www.eblaforum.org/main/viewtopic.php?t=51) and Truth (http://www.eblaforum.org/main/viewtopic.php?t=58). If you prefer, you can also find the entire series via the main page (http://www.eblaforum.org/main/index.php) or here (http://www.hyperboreans.com/forums/index.php?act=SF&f=10).

The next two will be on ethics and postmodernism (so-called) and should be up soon; thereafter we shall very probably look at the philosophy of mind, philosophy of religion, some oriental philosophies and the philosophy of education. If you have any suggestions or requests, or if you would like to help, please let me know. I hope they are worth your while.

I've yet to read any of the articles, but this is a great idea. From looking over the titles, I do have one question though. Do you deal with the systematic progression of philosophy in any of the articles.

What I mean is this: in my intro philosophy classes, we studied philosophers historically. This type of introduction to philosophy established the continuity of philosophy as a discipline. While studying different types of philosophy is fun and educational, without the necessary background of say, the development of the analytic tradition, post-modernism wouldn't have a context.

Like I said, I've not had the chance to read all the articles, so if you've already done this cool, but when reading philosophy of x, having the historical context and some of the major players in the field of x is extremely helpful.

Perhaps you should read the threads?

Thank you for posting links to the main pages of the other discussion forums. I only have time to be a "lurker" in those forums, but I'm finding the topics and discussions there interesting.

Hugo's added two new two essays, one on Ethics and one on Post-modernism, both referenced here (http://www.hyperboreans.com/forums/index.php?act=SF&f=10).

Hugo, got a question for ya.

Some of my friends are interested in getting into philosophy. Would you have a terribly large problem if I made several copies of the entire series and passed them along? Or would you prefer I simply refer them to the website?

I don't mind if you print stuff out like some others have but i'd appreciate it if you also referred them to the threads; at the very least they could offer me their suggestions or criticisms and keep up with the new material - after all, it's an ongoing project.

Might I also request that if anyone does happen to print them out, please make sure that credit is given where it's due: to Hugo as the author.
