If it is a sin to work on the sabbath, why do priests do most of their work on that day?

Almost all Christian churches (whether Catholic, Protestant, Baptist or whatever) hold their services on the sabbath thereby making priests, pastors, vicars, altar boys, organists, etc. (delete as applicable for the individual church) work.

Surely church services should be held on other days and the sabbath should be spent at home in quiet reflection and rest.

What is the reason for holding services on the sabbath - and does anyone know of any denominations that hold them another day instead?

Isn't Saturday the Sabbath? Why is the Sabbath named after Saturn?
(Maybe not in Spanish . . . "Sabado" is Spanish for Saturday, right?)

First of all, under the new Testament, the Sabbath isn't a requirement. The Sabbath was made for man, not the other way around. And worshipping on the Sabbath wouldn't be against the law anyway.

The Seventh-Day Adventists worship on Saturday, and one of their "Amazing Facts" tracts of the 60s-70s actually stated that Sunday worship was an abomination unto god-snot and a hellfire-punishable offense!
