March for Women’s Lives
Washington, DC • April 25, 2004
www.marchforwomen.org

MARCH PURPOSE: To come together – women, men and families– at a historic moment to ensure that we can do everything in our power to protect our right to privacy, our right to choose, our right to sex education, our rights to abortion, family planning, and pre-natal care, and our right to access the full range of reproductive health services, as well as preserve the separation of church and state. The single greatest threat to church-state separation in America is the movement known as the Religious Right. Organizations and leaders representing this religio-political crusade seek to impose a fundamentalist Christian viewpoint on all Americans through government action.

TIME & PLACE: SUNDAY, APRIL 25, 2004
ASSEMBLE: 10 AM at Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall
MARCH BEGINS: 12 NOON
RALLY: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM on the National Mall

SPECIAL NEEDS: Special seating will be available for people with disabilities. The March program will be signed for the hearing impaired. The route is wheelchair accessible and transportation will be provided for those who cannot negotiate the route.

Delaware Valley Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State President Janice Rael has details on carpools and buses to the March for Women’s Lives from everywhere. In addition to the NAACP, the ACLU, and thousands of civil rights, social justice, peace, and feminist groups, the April 25 March for Women is co-sponsored by Americans United for Separation of Church and State. March for Women organizers expect over 1 million people in DC for this historic demonstration. I will be walking behind the large banner for Americans United for Separation of Church and State. www.au.org ... AU is seeking many warm bodies to swell our ranks, to show the government, the media, and the people that secular activists support a woman's right to reproductive choice and that we won't let the Religious Right take away our Constitutional liberties.

One million people will be attending and even more will be watching. If you join me under the AU banner, you can still carry your own sign. Hint hint. I hope you all make an effort to attend on April 25 in DC.

You can meet local organizers and activists in your area by going to one of the March for Women Meetups. http://marchforwomen.meetup.com/

Sign up for the March for Women, or learn more here: http://marchforwomen.org

I heard on a local radio station that in my city (Houston, TX) there will be a rally in support of the march on the same afternoon. Worth looking into for people (like me) who might like to support such a thing, but can't get to DC!

Planned Parenthood of LA is also doing a support march on the same day. Americans United's Reverend Barry Lynn will be speaking to the DC crowds. I am so psyched. Look for the AU banner on TV!
