(I'm not sure if this should be in Moral Foundations & Principles, mods feel free to move it)
There are many idiots who feel the need to share their ignorance in letters to the editor in my hometown. Here's a shining example I thought everyone would love:
"Much has been written about moral issues of late. I would like to comment witht he words of a dear Christian brother, [name withheld].
'Jesus is Lord.
The Bible is true.
Your opinion does not count.'
Think about it."

I'm thinking of sending a letter to this guy. What are some good contradictions/cruelties/injustices/etc. in the babble, er, bible I can use?

How about:
Allah is Lord. The Quran is true. Your opinion does not count.
Krishna is Lord. The Bhagavad Gita is true. Your opinion does not count.
Vishnu is Lord. The Vedas are true. Your opinion does not count.
"Your god's name here" is Lord. "Your Holy Book here" is/are true. Your opinion does not count.
...think about it...

The most obvious one I know is everything he wrote was just his own opinion based somewhat on still other's opinions.
The bible is an extremely unproven claim with some wise words and truth, but also with far too much blatant hatred of people, especially those with differing opinions and lifestyles. It is also very full of bad judgements and clearly unwise 'wisdom' only showing the true ignorance of the writers' quest for power, fame, and control.

Jesus is Lord = your opinion.
The Bible is true = your opinion.
Aren't you glad that you can express your opinions freely, without people telling you that they don't count?

Use that letter to Dr. Laura that's been going around.

Jesus is Lord = your opinion.
The Bible is true = your opinion.
Actually, I would put it this way:
Jesus is Lord = How are you defining Lord? What does that word mean? This statement is meaningless unless you qualify it more. Do you mean Jesus is Lord of the Rings? If you do, than that is false, because Sauron is the Lord of the Rings. So come on, what is "Lord"? Perhaps Jack Lord?
The Bible is true = demonstrably false statement. (Let's just start with the contradictions...shall we?)
But the issue the person in the letter is really referring to is faith. The tenet of faith is simply this: "I believe regardless of the evidence presented." Which is death to rational thinking.
When he/she says "Your opinion doesn't count," he/she means "Whatever real proof you can give me, whatever logic destroys my irrational belief system -- I aint' gonna listen to you!"
Which makes me think of Tom Paine's wonderful opening to The Age of Reason, where he says that the person who refuses to listen to arguments makes himself a slave to his opinion, for he has destroyed his chance to change it.
The author of this letter, like most fundys, is just that:
A SLAVE
"Think about it"? Sorry, pal, but you aren't thinking: that's the trouble.

I would try:
"It's nice that your opinion is that my opinion does not count. When debating on these 'moral issues of late' of which you speak, however, your god's opinion in the electoral and judicial process does not count. But mine, in fact, does - it's called my vote, and Biblically-based moral systems aren't what it's going towards."
