Vinnie (me!) will be affirming the historicity of Jesus, a figure beneath the canonical gospel stories--not the Jesus on the surface of the Gospel stories.

Format, length, and time limits? I'm open on these issues. I would simply suggest more time for longer word counts on responses. I really can't see going less than 5,000 word statements here though.

Hi Vinnie,

We'd like you to finish your debate with RobertLW first, before starting another formal debate. :)

But in the meantime, if someone comes to pick up your gauntlet, we can set up the parameters (with the start date being left open).

No problem. When the debate between Robert and myself is finished I offer this subject for debate to anyone interested. We can discuss the format and type of debate. I am open to it.

I'll do a Three way (mythicist vs historicist vs agnostic) and/or and Interrogative debate/discussion or both at once: a three way interrogative format. Or a concurrant debate or with me leading or following. I don't care one way or another.

I have one condition. You need to at least have some sort of basic understanding and knowledge of critical scholarship. If you have only read one book on Christian origins, whether it be from Raymond Brown, Earl Doherty or John Dominic Crossan, I do not have much interest in dialoging with you in a formal venue. We could simply play in the BC&H forum in that context. I'd prefer somone who is familiar with various aspects of critical scholarship on Christian Origins--meaning you have actually read a substantial amount of the primary literature and are immersed in secondary sources as well.
