Proposal: U.S. Aid to Israel

It is my position that the U.S. should end foreign aid to Israel. I would like to debate this topic. Perhaps 4 rounds, 5,000 words, and a one-week response limit? Scope might include history, politics, and ethics. Please no arguments for support of Israel soley on religious grounds. Be able to cite sources.

Is your argument that absolute funding in any way should be stopped? Is it a part of an across the board stoppage of US funds to the globe or solely Israel?

I will argue that all direct aid to Israel should be ended. I will argue that aid to Israel alone should be ended. I favor ending aid to Egypt (among others) as well, but don't oppose ending aid to Israel alone for the immediate future. The latter is my primary concern; the former is desirable, but shouldn't be tied to the latter.

So for the sake of the debate one could argue that you are fine with the US supporting muderous dictatorships in the Arab world while not funding the only democracy in the region.

And for the sake of debate one could argue that you are willing to call a state that willingly tortures its own and foreign nationals, kills civilians as collateral damage, bulldozers protestors and denies an entire nation possibility of work and a functional economy a democracy.
